Homicide Near MKT Trail Wed, Dec 21 2011

On December 20, 2011, at 9:35 a.m. officers were dispatched to the dead end of White Oak Lane when a jogger called and reported a man lying unresponsive in a wooded area near the MKT trail.

Investigators later determined the identity of the victim to be Timothy Ray Jones, 01/26/1968. Due to the suspicious nature of his death Major Case Investigators determined it to be a homicide. Jones suffered lacerations to his upper torso.

Jones was often seen traveling throughout Columbia on his bicycle or walking, and was well known throughout the community as “St. Louis, or Louie”.

Investigators are particularly interested in the time frame of 10:00 PM on 12/19/2011 until 09:35 AM on 12/20/2011.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about Timothy Jones Contact the Columbia Police Department at 874-7652 or Crime Stoppers at 875-TIPS.

Crime Stoppers will provide up to $1500 for information leading to the conviction of the person or persons responsible for this crime.
