Robbery Suspect Arrested Thu, May 21 2009
Update: Arrest Made in Break Time Robbery
Columbia police officers responded to a Robbery in Progress dispatch at 9:58 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2009. The robbery occurred at the Break Time convenience store located at 2402 Paris Road in Columbia. The victim, 48 year old Steven Schrader, was a customer of the business. He was in the restroom when the robber entered the restroom, displayed a handgun, and demanded money. The suspect then left the area on foot.
The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 5’ 7’’, with short hair, and he was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, jeans, and light colored shoes.
Columbia Police Major Crimes investigators worked diligently on this case since it was first reported. A crucial tip was received through the CrimeStoppers tip-line. Detectives were able to identify a suspect in this case. This evening at approximately 6:00 p.m. detectives working together with SWAT, Columbia Police Patrol Officers, and Members of the Street Crimes Unit arrested Marlon E. Lewis of Columbia, for the robbery. The arrest of the suspect in this case was accomplished within 24 hours of the crime.
Lewis, whose date of birth is 05-26-1971, of 1219 Player Place, in Columbia, was arrested at 804 A. Demaret. Lewis is charged with one count of Robbery in the First Degree, and one count of Armed Criminal Action.
